Job Description: Admissions/Registration Clerk

Location: Blue Mountain Hospital

Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer


Blue Mountain Hospital is seeking a full-time Admissions/Registration Clerk to join our dedicated team. This role plays a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by providing administrative, financial, and registration support during the patient admission process.


Job Summary:

The Admissions/Registration Clerk is responsible for collecting and entering accurate patient demographic and financial information, verifying insurance and eligibility, obtaining necessary authorizations, and offering financial counseling. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to providing excellent customer service in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, verify, and accurately record patient information in accordance with hospital guidelines.
  • Confirm insurance benefits and obtain necessary pre-authorizations and referrals.
  • Facilitate payment arrangements and process cash payments for outpatient services.
  • Provide financial counseling and address patient concerns professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all state and federal regulations.
  • Explain consent forms and secure required patient signatures.
  • Offer administrative support including scheduling, answering phones, and assisting patients.
  • Assist with Contract Health Accounts as directed.
  • Identify and communicate registration errors to the Business Manager.
  • Support the hospital's culture and standards through professional and collaborative conduct.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in patient registration, insurance verification, or financial counseling; or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance processes, medical terminology, and privacy regulations.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
